What to do and see

Ocean’s Horizon is situated in the idyllic conservation village of Scarborough, in a safe environment of exquisite natural beauty. Home to writers, artists and ardent surfers, Scarborough’s charm lies in its laid-back and unpretentious way of life. Enjoy the simple pleasures in life such as long walks on the beach or adventurous hikes in the surrounding mountains. Experience surfers and kite-surfers close up as they carve up the ocean and perform electrifying tricks.

Scarborough is situated 50 minutes from downtown Cape Town. However, most of the city’s attractions are not located in the city centre but are instead scattered throughout the peninsula. With its convenient location, Ocean’s Horizon is the ideal hub for daily excursions to explore the natural beauty of Cape Town as well as its historic attractions.

Eat in or out

Although the village is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Scarborough is by no means lacking in essential luxuries.

Planning to eat in? The Village Hub, a gentle stroll down the hill, offers foodies countless delights with its on-site artisanal bakery and gourmet deli. Choose from the tantalising assortment of local organic ingredients and head back to Ocean’s Horizon to explore your culinary creativity. Whether you are preparing your meal in the amply equipped kitchen or grilling on the braai, everything you need to make memorable feasts is at your fingertips.

If you would rather eat out, two excellent Scarborough restaurants, The Hub and Whole Earth, serve the freshest seasonal delicacies at prices to suit a local’s pocket.

Less than a 15-minute drive from Scarborough, you’ll find the Long Beach Mall, a huge, newly renovated shopping centre with all the major retail stores such as Woolworths and Pick n Pay as well as several eateries.

A little piece of heaven! Our family of 5 has fallen in love with this property and it will always occupy a special place in our hearts. The area is safe and great for children. Our children walked to the nearby shop and restaurant most days. Scarborough is the ideal tranquil setting to use as a base to explore the beaches, towns, mountains, wine farms and city in and around Cape Town.

Fantastic house, located in a lovely area. Rent this home with confidence. The Scarborough area is wonderful and the house is located next to a hiking trail and walking distance to the beach, a gourmet grocery, and restaurant.

Ocean’s Horizon is a fantastic house with dramatic views, where nothing is missing.  We enjoyed our eleven days in the house so much that we stayed in the house and the village rather than going for further excursions in the Cape. We will be more than happy to return to this paradise!
